ANNOUNCER
HENRY: This rain is soaking me to the skin. The umbrella's no good. Full of holes. I knew I needed a new one, I just never got around to buying it. The church bell tolls in the distance. We're the picture of melancholy, a group of mourners surrounding a grave, my mother crying softly on my shoulder. I can't find the tears to express what I feel. My father is at confession. I hope it does him some good. The priest looks at the sparse group of mourners. She had no relativesówell, no living relatives. No one but us.
PRIEST: The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

Inspired: The Harrowing Tale of Hortensia
A young woman named Hortensia loved making art, and practiced crocheting all day long to become the very best in all her town. But one day, she was completely stumped. She looked around her room, full of art pieces featuring mystical bananas, sci-fi landscapes of a futuristic Toledo, and a portrait of Hannah Hart that looked so real, you could start a conversation with it. But nothing inspired her. Had she really created everything there was to create? Depressed, she looked out her window, and made a wish on a nearby lump for inspiration to return to her. The next morning, she sprung out of bed, and used her skill in crocheting to create the most beautiful deviation depicting elbows crying anyone had ever seen. That night, she shouted out the window, "Thanks, lump!"

Tap
Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Taptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptap…
Her heels click loudly on the rough concrete of the platform. I can't see her—I'm facing track 3, and she's careening down the other side, track 4, the Paoli/Thorndale line, 3:57 local to Malvern. It's currently 4:00 sharp. There's no way she'll make it, it's already started pulling out of the station. She yells fruitlessly against the gleaming aluminum surface, hoping a conductor might hear over the squeal of the wheels in motion.
She means to mutter under her breath, but her voice echoes across the platform, no longer overpowered by the receding chug-a-chug-a-chug (though, I suppose they don't really make that noise anymore, not the newer ones, at least; more of a "clackety-clackety-clack," really).
"God-fucking-dammit."
A picture begins to form. She is a businesswoman and a mother, not yet nearing but still fearing middle age. She wears a navy-blue or black suit-jacket/skirt combo, and her hair is pinned up in a tight bun. I

Stream
This is a cliche. I'm running, I'm bounding, I can't look back. The lumbering thing that chases me through a forest of gnarled black trees, around an indoor track the tone of Lovecraft's unnameable color out of space, between towering skyscrapers that twist unnaturally and gleam both in the harsh burn of the sun and the gentle glow of the moon--it grows closer, ever closer, and I can feel its icy breath at my back like a violent gust of wind, tearing at me, pushing me forwards. But none of this is odd. The strangeness lies in the fact that I am self-aware. I have not once in my life had a lucid dream. Why now? Why--
Awake. Thank god. But I can remember it, goddammit. I can remember it. I never remember my dreams. This place is getting to me. I never should've come. I never should've agreed to take that risk, to allow the expedition--and what could've inspired me to follow, to tag along where I had no business being?!
It doesn't matter now. I'm going to die here, die alone. I haven't be

I'm a college student who loves architecture, neuroscience, and long walks on the beach. Actually, medium-length walks on the beach are good too, and only if it's summer. On second thought, the beach isn't really my style. The sand gets all up in my shoes. How about a long walk on a lush, verdant mountain somewhere, somewhere where there are ruins? Sounds good to me.
