Six Word Stories: Lab Rats

A six word story that I was inspired to write while at work today. I work in a neuroscience lab, and the harsh reality is that, to appropriately study the functions of the mind, we need to sacrifice some animals (we use rats) to the purpose of science. It isn't ideal, but it's necessary for the betterment of humanity. They live on in our data, if not in our hearts and in our minds.

So, we do it as humanely as possible--we feed them treats, dried fruit and cheerios, then let them drift off into an anesthetized slumber from which they never wake.

Then we take out their brains.
